Pansies growing very tall

Hi all

I planted these pansies from plugs back in march (probably a bit early but got away with it!) but they are now so tall they are struggling to stay upright. I have taken some seeds from open seedheads and sown them, if I cut these right back down will they regrown this year?

I hacked back my winter pansies in planters in June, because they were going the same way. Took them right back, now growing and flowering again as more compact plants.

@GemmaJF I have a packet of regular pansy seeds, are there particular winter seeds?

I bought winter pansies from the GC, not grown them from seed. They stay in flower reliably throughout the winter months. So yes I think there are particular winter varieties.
