We had this bird visiting under our feeders a couple of days ago. I don't want to start another debate on whether the poor bird should be shot. I would like to know if they are rare in your area as they are here.
Lovely, not seen one in years and years. Wood pigeons, collared doves are common, I think it will take serious conservation efforts before we were to see a turtle dove again locally. Numbers have been in steady decline here in East Anglia.
Most of our feral pigeons and collared doves are seen in pairs, this solitary turtle dove was probably way off track. I wonder what happened to it after being in our garden. Sorry to hear of the decline in East Anglia.
Very rare and very beautiful. I have not seen one since I was down near @Dovefromabove a few years ago.
He calls her the chocolate girl Cause he thinks she melts when he touches her She knows she's the chocolate girl Cause she's broken up and swallowed And wrapped in bits of silver
