Problem solving
The leaves on my plum tree are withering (see ). I applied some fairy liquid and water and this may have helped as there is some new growth.
Any advice appreciated.

The leaves were attacked at some point by aphids and maybe a few caterpillars of some kind.
If you’d waited, and saved the washing up liquid for the washing up, the result would have been the same.
Life is a circle. Aphids arrive, birds and ladybird larvae eat some of them up, others move on and get eaten up by other things.
Washing up liquid just throws a spanner in the works by depriving the birds and ladybird larvae of their food supply.
The tree is designed to withstand the attack. It maybe doesn’t look very pretty to our eyes, but that’s not really the point of it all.
Apophthegm - a big word for a small thought.
If you live in Derbyshire, as I do.
