Rosa arvensis Won't Flower

Hello, hoping someone has some suggestions for this issue. I have a Field Rose in my front garden, it's sheltered position, against a wall and is in light shade. I wanted a wild rose and knew that in a slightly shady position a Field Rose was the only one to go for. I've seen them wreathed in flowers in far shadier positions in the wild but this one had one flower the first year and now in it's 3rd year has had non since. Do they take a few years to get going ? Does it need pruning in a particular way ? I'm just baffled as to why it gives me 0 flowers ?
