Are these tomato plants?

Hello!
I could do with some advice, please; my daughter planted some seeds that we thought were tomato seeds (found in an envelope in a forgotten seed box in the shed), they're growing well but they don't look like your classic tomato... any ideas?
Thanks,
Duncan

    Not tomatoes  :)
Don't know what they are though - hopefully someone will ID them for you.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Whatever it is, it looks splendid!
  • We have loads so I hope they're edible!

Where did you get them from before the seed box?
    In London. Keen but lazy.
  • No idea, I wasn't there when they were planted. They could be from a number of places. Could even have been saved from a previous crop.

Something like that came up from my bird seed so I'm interested to know what it is too.

Looks a bit like an amaranth ... one of the amaranth related Chinese greens perhaps?

    Pretty sure that's spinach.

I was just going to say that @Skandi ... it came to me just as I was nodding off so I put the light on and you’d beaten me to it 😆

Yep, spinach that has bolted and is starting to flower.
