What to use under top soil when filling in a large dip across the width of the garden

I have 10 tonnes of top soil arriving to fill a very large dip in my lawn but want to add gravel or small hardcore to build it up in the lowest places and create better drainage. I was going to order MOT 1 Limestone chips. Would this be the right product to use? Please advise, many thanks

How deep are you laying the topsoil over the top of it? If too thin you may see unevenness in the colour of the grass over those spots (although the grass will be OK)

300mm/1ft should be enough to avoid this, although you're always going to see a difference between well drained and poorly drained areas in years where there is drought.

I work with developers and in one scheme they were having problems with rear garden drainage, we added a 150mm layer of coarse sharp sand under 300mm of topsoil for the lawns, and those lawns performed VASTLY better than the ones before we got involved. The sand layer linked to a clean stone filled trench at the bottom of the garden with land drainage.
