Plant identification

alanbeealanbee Posts: 30
Hi,
Until recently we had a lovely small bush that flowered every April/May in the garden. It didn't grow much bigger each year. We had a new fence errected and unfortunately it got obliterated! It had small yellow flowers. My wife thinks it had "golden" in its name. I attach a photo (please forgive the beers!)which isnt very good but its in the background. Can anyone please help identify as we would love to replace it.

My first instinct was to lovingly look at the beer!!! Picture slightly indistinct though .
Second thought was maybe Hypericum kalmianum Cobalt-n-Gold ; perhaps that's where your wife got the 'golden' from ?

    All
Many thanks, it does look like Potentilla. If I was to obtain one, when would the best time be to plant it?

Autumn is usually considered the best time, but you could get one now and make sure you keep it watered.
