Plant or weed?

Could anyone please help. Is this a plant or a weed and what is it called? Seems to have a life of its own! Thanks.

    Spirea. Can't remember the name but boring apart from two weeks when it produces those flowers, then dead flowers, and rampant all year.
    I would treat it as a weed, unless for some reason, you like it😉

    Spirea douglasii, and I agree with B3.

    It does encroach a lot onto the surrounding lawn. Is it difficult to kill off?

    It used to sneak under the fence from next door. A total PITA until they got rid if it.

    Exactly what is happening to us. It never stops encroaching on the grass and its surroundings. That's why I thought it was a weed. Blimey, surely people don't actually choose to plant this stuff do they?
