Help please - Fatsia Japonica dying (pest infestation?)

Hi all
My mature fatsia japonica has recently lost about 50% of is foliage, and has developed brown, yellow, and curling leaves.
Upon inspection there are large clumps of what look like eggs both under and on top of some of the leaves. Could this be the culprit? Can anyone give me any advice on what to do next? Its a good sized plant so would be sad to lose it.
For info the plant is currently potted, although will soon be planted in a large raised bed (if it survives).

Its normal for the lower leaves to die. Just pull them off. No idea what your eggs are but either hose or wipe them off or take off the leaf if it's deformed
It's probably under stress as well in it's pot, you could cut out a stem or two to help it until you get the chance to move it.
It looks rather dry as well

It needs to be out of that pot. It's very stressed and therefore vulnerable to any pests.
They don't make good long term pot specimens unless the pot is huge. That pot is tiny in Fatsia terms  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Thanks both, I'll see if I have a bigger pot to move it to until I get the bigger planter finished
