Cucamelon

I'm growing cucamelon which I always find easy to grow but this year the fruits that have appeared on the plants are around 2 inches, very light green and slightly spikey?! What's happened to my small watermelon coloured fruits? Any ideas?

I usually find that when fruit is paler, that it's a nutrient deficiency, and possibly not enough water too.  Do you feed them weekly?  If not, give that a try, plus a bit more water, as it has generally been a very warm and dry Spring for most.

Thank you keenongreen for your reply. I've recently started giving them a feed once a week but perhaps this was a little too late. I'll see how the younger ones get on with feed. I hadn't heard that about paler fruit so it's one to watch out for.

One of my bushes got damaged by slugs this year, which is supremely annoying. First time growing cucamelons.

I attempted cucamelons this year and they were a complete disaster  

I'm excited to try them again next year.
