Blanket Weed

What ho one and all,
We have a small pond that suffers big(ish) time from what I believe is blanket weed. I bought one of those 'micro-organisum products for suppressing blanketweed' and before adding to the pond, I used a rake to remove the vast majority of the weed.
Hard to say if the Viresco Aqua is having any effect on the clarity of the water, but it is not 'removing' localised patches of weed that is attached to the liner.
What is the best way to remove these attached patches? Sweep with a broom? Or just leave it and see if the product does it's job?
No fish, just whatever wildlife comes along but certainly many newts.
