My Ninebark bushes have just finished flowering & I’m led to believe that now is the time to prune them back. How hard do I chop them?

These shrubs fall into Group 2 for pruning. All you need to do is cut back the stems that have flowered to fresh new shoots. These are the shoots that will flower next year.
