Seed germination using Hydrogen Peroxide

BalaBala Posts: 113
I keep hearing that Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide 3% is very effective for seed germination.  I have bought some but don't know how to use it.  Has anyone any experience in this method?  If yes, could you let me know the step-by-step?

thanks

I found interesting posts on Youtube. Use 2 - 3 teaspoons of 3% in 1 litre, or half that of 6%. All sorts of uses including a stronger solution for mildew and other things.

Seeds have germinated for millions of years without hydrogen peroxide, why do they need it now?

If it worked so well, surely we'd all know about it , and be doing it?
Sounds a bit of a gimmick to me

Use white vinegar. That seems to be the key ingredient in 90% of “hacks” on social media.

I think " the key ingredient in 90% of “hacks” on social media." is a gullible audience

Lighten your hair with it, expect Punkdoc remembers in the 70s,80c we used it to clean wounds in what was then called "Casualty", but sow seeds in seed compost

The active agent in barley straw added to ponds to control algae, is possibly H2O2.  It is possibly released on fermentaion of seed coatings. Give it a try and tell us.

But please do a blank without H2O2.

I use 6% to brighten my pearlies. But do your own research, it might be carcinogenic.

"white" vinegar is the clue.  A USA source.  As are most of the Google.co.uk reponses I get.

Why is white vinegar a clue to it being a USA source @bédé ? It's readily available in supermarkets here (usually labelled "distilled vinegar" as opposed to brown vinegar which is labelled "malt vinegar"). I use it for making pickled cauliflower for OH.
