Flowering plant id...?

REMF33REMF33 Posts: 679
I bought this possibly three years. It was a small plant. I thought it had died, but it produced one or two flowers last year, and didn't look happy, but left it in, of course. At that point, if I'd dug it up, it would have gone in a 7inch pot. Then this year....! It's about 3ft wide and 2ft high. (This goes in the "I wouldn't have put it there it I'd realized..." category.) N.b not a realy sunflower, but a plant support...

Catananche caerulea, a nice white form. It's usually pale blue.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

Thank you very much, JennyJ! Some of the flowers have a lilac tinge. It doesn't look much from a distance but i rather like it. The yellow on purple in the centre is striking. But you have to look at it close up.
