Wisteria dying

How much water has it had?  It's been very hot and dry for many parts of the UK.

Did you soak the roots first then tease out the roots and mix the compost with the soil or just fill a hole with compost and stick the wisteria in it?   If the latter, I would suggest digging it up again and then mixing the soil and compost up a bit and loosen the soil at the bottom and sied of the hole, tease out the roots so they are encouraged to spread and seek water and nutrients further afield then re-plant and water well.

Hi Obelixx we did tease the roots & mixed in with the compost and we watered every day with hose pipe which is why I thought we had over watered it we are thinking of giving it some feed to see if that helps

Not a good idea to feed a stressed plant and there will be food in the fresh compost anyway.   How much water?  Hard to measure with a hosepipe.  Better to give it a bucketful, poured slowly so it soaks in and gets down to the deeper roots.

Thank you how often should it have a bucket full bearing in mind we have now had rain on & off for days when we were using the hose pipe we were holding it over plant for awhile

If you've had decent rain I would just leave it be for a while and see if it recovers and sends out new shoots.   In hot, dry spells I'd give it a bucketful per day and in the evening so it can soak it up overnight.  If it's just dry then a bucketful every 2 or 3 days.

Good.  Hope it survives and thrives.
