Help with Acer Palmatum Phoenix

Hi All,

I’m looking for help with how to prune/trim/smarten an Acer Palmatum Phoenix we’ve acquired.

I’ve attached a few pictures and hoping somebody can suggest what to do with it?

Thanks

Generally acers don't need pruning. They naturally grow into the right shape.
You can trim it, but it's best to wait until the dead of winter as they bleed sap if pruned during the growing season which can kill them.

Here is an RHS article which may help
