Why are my lupines being eaten?

For all those who are wondering why your lupines are being eaten, not by slugs or any other bug!!  I am sitting here right now watching humble bees tear thru them like there is no tomorrow!!  One flower at a time, nothing I can do about since I don't want to hurt the bees, it is just incredible how fast they are destroying them, ugh!!

How interesting!  Do you suppose it's to get to the nectar?  Some are pretty big, and can't fit inside I would imagine.
