Cut flower food

B3B3 Posts: 24,463
Despite my  decision not to age during lockdown,  my birthday bouquet  was delivered  without  the little sachets  of plant food
Does  it matter?
If it does, can I make my own?
Thanks

The roses, cut off the bottom inch and dip the next inch in a jug of freshly boiled water for about 30 seconds until it stops bubbling, then plunge back into the vase.  Other than that, a teaspoon of sugar in the vase does the trick. Some people use an aspirin.

Thanks @fidgetbones. I'll  fish the roses out and do the bizz. I'm  looking  forward  to the peonies  opening

Apparently the best way to prolong the lives of cut flowers is to keep them in the fridge overnight!  Not something I've ever done though.
