I have a mini pond/bubbling water feature made with a pond liner. The hole was big but after adding all stones (I can't stand any bit of the liner or plastic visible) it got really tiny.
This is just after making it in April last year.
I then redid it to make it deeper, moved the bubbling stone to the back and added some plants.
And this is the area this year. I haven't put the stone with the pump in yet.
I am not sure it's worth having, I don't like the maintenance. It doesn't warm up and only needed topping up once or twice last year and once this year. It would be probably better to have a pondless water feature just for the sound but I made it like this to provide at least something for wildlife.
@FlyDragon that’s lovely! In my experience even a tiny pond adds so much to the garden.
Thank you! It doesn't look like much at the moment but hopefully in a few weeks it will be more settled in. I've got snapdragons, osteospermums, hardy geraniums and cinquefoil for now, need to get a fern, and that'll do for this year.

It looks lovely though, with those mature plants. Do you get much wildlife?
I can't afford to be fussy about visible plastic sadly, I have to have it slightly proud of the ground so my visually impaired dog doesn't fall in! I will try to soften it a bit with plants, logs, rocks, and maybe some edging around the front, haven't decided yet!
I'm wondering about pondless water features too - as an addition rather than a replacement. Maybe. I have two frogs in my micro pond but don't see much else use it. It's in sun and needs topping up every other day when it's warm. It's full of blanket weed. There are so many cats around that I think birds don't feel safe to use it. I need to have a rethink.

Thank you. Unfortunately, I don't, only what I think are mosquito larvae. But we have a walled garden so I wouldn't probably get much with a bigger pond anyway. Birds use it to drink from it, I think.
Ah yes, I suppose with a walled garden you are never going to get frogs and newts, maybe some plants to attract insects might draw in the bees and dragonflies and so on?
I just love the sound of water. I got a little solar fountain but took the fountain attachment off - it’s more of a soothing glug now. Really enjoying seeing everyone’s photos.
Here’s mine - knocked up in the first week of lockdown from what I had in the garage and what I could source online. The water is crystal clear now and has been since it settled down. I’ve added a ‘landing platform’ of big stones - the birds seem to enjoy it. We’ve had loads of dragonflies too, which is wonderful.

That's lovely! Can I ask how long it took for the water to settle and start to clear?
I've just been out in a break in the rain to plant around the pond and like an idiot I tipped out two of the plants over the pond so a load of soil and leaf bits went in, kicking myself!
@FlyDragon not long, maybe a day or so. The oxygenator (cotton bud/fibre optic grass I think it’s known as) seems to be doing a grand job and the fountain helps a bit too. I pull that fountain out and clear the little filter guard maybe once a fortnight.
