Houseplant Sticky White residue

Looking for remedies please. I have a 2 year old  Pilea Peperomioides - chinese money plant. Lovely healthy plant but today I noticed the very top new growth had sticky white residue on stems and leaves. I think aphids or mealybugs? Any suggestions for homemade remedies etc. I think il struggle to get a shop bought  treatment for it at the moment. i washed the affected parts with washing up liquid and  water. Thanks

Scale insect?  I found the best thing was to just scrub them off with my finger or nail.  It squashes them in the process.  I did try dipping a small plant into a solution of rubbing alcohol and water.  That seemed to help with the smaller ones, but didn't bother the large adults.

@Blue Onion. I hink thats what it is. its a large plant so cant dip it. iv no rubbing alcohol. iv just diluted had sanitizer and sprayed it with that and wiped it down. hopefully iv not done more damage than good! Was your plant ok?

It seems a waste but if you love your plant and can’t get hold of rubbing alcohol, gin or vodka on a cotton bud might well do the job.

Dovefromabove . never thought of that! if i can persuade my daughter to spare some of her vodka i'll give it a try 😁👍

My plant was fine.. it was some type of pitcher plant my husband rescued from the grocery store.    Came half dead with scale insects.  Granted, I do love house plants.. but the special requirements of a carnivorous plant were never high on my list.  Poor thing looks better, but certainly isn't thriving.  It hasn't produced a pitcher in months for me to 'feed'.  Scale insects were all gone soon after the treatment, due to me checking it daily and removing any I could find.  Taking out the small ones was helpful, as they are difficult to find.  I was only working with a small sized plant though.

glad to hear. iv taken cuttings from my plant just in case. blasted them and they look free ftom anytjing and were well away from the top part that hax the sticky stuff.  gutted as its a beaut plant. fingers xd its ok & i dnt need to bin it. i had s monkey jug plant. ended up binning it as it just didnt florish
