Is my silver birch dying?

I have recently planted a silver birch tree in the same area I removed an old conifer. I don't know the exact age of the tree but it is around 8-9 ft tall. The fine tree branches appear to be drooping slightly and the leaves also. Its has been very warm over the past week or so, so I have watered the tree lightly every night for the past week. Today I have noticed a few of the leaves have fallen off. The leaves are green and do not have any brown spots or discolouration. Am I worrying untowardly or is there an issue with my tree?

    Water!
Lightly isn't enough if it is still trying to establish in this heat and dryness.
  • Thanks for the reply.

It's been in about six weeks now. I watered it heavily for the first couple couple of weeks and lightly since. I'll increase the watering.
