Laurel bushes

Have planted laurel bushes put lime stone on top of soil noticed they werent looking great put fish n bone and pellets on top of stone still leaves going yellow took stone off and feeds incase of overfeed thinking i may be chemical burning the bush to notice roots growing sideways put new soil is there anything else i should do

    They do better here on acid soil, so no lime, in fact nothing needed at all especially in this hot dry weather. 
    I would take off the limestone, scrape as much of the fertiliser off as you can and give gallons of water.
