Is my Apple tree dead?

We moved into our house three years ago. The apple tree was very overgrown but did bear fruit. We consulted a tree surgeon who dramatically pruned it but we have not had any fruit since. This year we have no leaves or blossom and the bark is coming off.

    No bark = dead, I'm afraid.
