Grass seed in full sun

Hi,

I put down some shady type grass seed about 3 and a half weeks ago, and it's growing nicely under my big tree and it shady areas of the garden, as expected. The grass seed that is in the full sun is not growing at all apart from a few tufts. I am confused as to how often and how much I should be watering it. I always do a morning and evening water for about 10/15 mins each time. However as it's been so hot the soil dries out so quickly and by midday it seems bone dry. Sticking a screwdriver in it doesn't go down as far as it should. I had been told to water more frequently but have also heard not to water it during the day as it will scorch the seed.
