Help

Can anyone tell me what this is, I only discovered it today so no idea how long its been there. It looks to me like some kind of palm because of the little green shoots like leaves sprouting from the top. I don't know if you can make them out in the photos

It could be musa basjoo (banana plant) but it is bit difficult to make it out.  Someone with experience of these might be more help  :)

I wonder whether @nutcutlet recognises it?

Does @nutcutlet still post?  I feel like she hasn't posted in ages, hope she is OK.  Could it be the new shoots of a Restio?  It also reminds of of new Bamboo shoots, except for the colour.

Nut’s fine ... or she was just a few days ago ... we’ve been in touch ... she’s busy in the garden

Looks like new bamboo shoots to me.
Depends on the species as to the colour of the new shoots.

Thanks guys, next door has a lot of bamboo growing just on the other side of the wall so I recon you've nailed it.
