Which summer flowering plants do well in full sun ?

My husband built me these wooden planters to go under the summer house windows. I made the mistake of putting Senetti in those and they were very unhappy.

I'd like to put something very colourful with big flowers in there, the bigger and the brighter the better.

I am ideally looking for pinks, purples and blues.

Can anyone recommend which plants with pink/purple/blue flowers that bloom now and / or in summer / late summer and love full sun I can put in these?

Thank you!

For annual bedding, petunias come in those colours if you can find any, and like full sun. They'll trail over the front as well.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

I agree, pentunias, or some of the purple thunbergias, they'll trail too.

Just a mass planting of trailing lobelia looks good too.
    In London. Keen but lazy.
