Gardenia problem

This Gardenia was in a pot over winter, planted out late March. Been fine for a few weeks, nice dark green foliage, then recently started turning yellow. Is this lack of water as I only water once a week?

To the best of my knowledge, they aren't very hardy, so it's probably been planted out too early
