Growing butternut squash in a pot

I remember my dad growing marrows in a huge container filled with manure, I wondered if I could do this with a butternut squash in an old copper dolly tub ?

If it's big enough I don't see why not.  Which variety have you got?

@BobTheGardener I've no idea on the variety as it was a free gift that's passed through several hands to get to me. I'll give it a go as I don't really have anywhere else for it to go. I think I'm right that they are very hungry plants and like loads of food

@Wilderbeast Yes, I've successfully used a 50/50 mix of garden soil and well rotted manure in a container of about 70l.  Once they get going, keeping up with watering is the main thing.
