My magnolia Stella ta, s leaves have dried out, ground around tree is damp I have scraped a little bit of bark off and it is green underneath. Could anyone tell me what the problem is

    How old is it?  Has it been watered at all through the dry spell?  What's underneath it?  It might just need some time to recover from the weird weather recently.

    It's 18yrs old I bought it as a momentum for my dad who had recently passed. It has been watered ground beneath is damp. It is in good compost and has mulch around the trunk
