Runaway bride help ?

Hi, I am a novice gardener and bought a couple of runaway bride hydrangeas shoots last year. I have watched them grow slowly and was so excited to see them start to sprout leaves
. All of sudden a couple of weeks ago one of the plants leaves turned brown and fell off. Now the other one small flowers have started to turn, can any body advise me what is wrong , what am i doing wrong , is there any chance of recovery ??
