What tree is this?

in Plants
I live in Japan and last autumn planted some acorns my son brought home with him from a field trip. I have a lot of seedlings now but no real idea what the tree is.
I suspect a chestnut given the leaves, but the acorns were small. The trees are also doing really well in normal soil rather than the acidic soil I read chestnuts seem to prefer.
From the acorns, I think maybe I have stone oaks, but the leaves of a stone oak aren't like little saws. So I'm not completely sure.
Does anyone know? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The acorns were like these.

Quercus ryspophylla..is from Mexico and is evergreen...mystery tree leaves appear to be deciduous.

But with so many species an accurate id will be hard for all but experts in oak trees.
