To weed or not to weed?

Hello everyone,
I inherited a fully established garden last year and this is my first spring and also first ever year of gardening and I'm absolutely love it.... earlier in the year I bought a digging hoe and unleashed it on this flower bed as I had mainly grass in it than anything else... so far so good but now I have hundreds of seedlings and I have no idea what is what... I heard if you aren't sure if it's a weed then to leave it until you are sure?... Any advice would be greatly appreciated... Photo to follow...
Many thanks,
James

Some seeds need light to germinate, so when you disturb the soil, seeds that have been buried come to the surface and think:  Wayhay!  sunshine!  That's not a reason not to hoe, by the way, it's one of the best and most eco-friendly ways to control weeds.  By and by you'll learn to recognise the commonest weeds.  In the meantime, let them grow on a bit, preferably until they flower, post photos here and we'll do our best to ID them for you.  Then if you don't want them, you can uproot them before they set seed.

It's easier for us to ID from photos if you don't post more than three at once: Two photos works best:  one of the whole plant to show its size and growth habit, and a close up of a leaf or two and a flower.
