Help with peony

Sallyann10Sallyann10 Posts: 4
Please can you view my photos . A 4 year old peony in a tub with correct soil. Probably no more than 5 flower heads in total and die so quickly never had 2 blooms together. It’s growing wildly but no colour as I would imagine on a peony. It’s a gift from sons wedding so very precious to me. Please help what am I doing wrong

Hi @Sallyann10 You are probably doing nothing wrong, but your plant is not a peony.  Hopefully someone here can identify it for you.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

    Camellia possibly?
Have you got a photo of the flowers @Sallyann10?   :)

Oh my you have made me chuckle!! frantically trying to find the card which came with the gift, maybe I have been caring for it incorrectly! Please can anyone correct my thought. As you can see I am not the perfect gardener with knowledge!

I'd go with camellia as well  :)

It'll do better in  a bigger pot. Soil based medium with some ericaceous compost. Bit of shade. Water with rainwater if possible, unless you have soft water.  :)

Yes, it's a Camellia :)  As Fairygirl  says ericaceous compost and good watering is the key. I must say it does look very healthy.

    Yes - camellia.  :)
They're best in the ground if your soil is suitable. They don't like alkaline, but are fine in neutral to acidic.
Whether you pot or plant, just do so at the same level as it already is  :)
