Identify this clematis please

I was given this clematis last summer as a tiny cutting. I never got to see the parent plant and the owner hasn’t a clue what it’s called. It’s finally flowered this week.

Any thoughts? I would love to know what it’s called so I can take care of it properly. It’s already around 5 feet tall and I want to prune it right! Flowers are about 8-10cm across, Cadbury purple in colour with lime green centre unfurling outwards.

thanks you lovely lot 😊

    Taiga possibly.

Looks bang on to me! surprising that it’s in flower so early as a group 3 but the whole garden is confused right now so why not? Lol.

    Thank you 😊

There are lots of threads on here about group 3 clematis flowering now.

The plants know better, we just try to categorise everything to make us feel in control.
