Can anyone help to identify this tree?

This tree appeared in my postage stamp front garden last year, it blossomed in Spring so I left it wondering what fruit it might bare but seems to be some sort of nut, any ideas please?

Looks like Winter Sweet: Chimonanthus praecox.
Did the flowers come out in the spring before the leaves and were they fragrant?
You can propagate from the fruits with seeds inside but this will take many years before it will flower.

    Good morning

I just google image Chimonanthus praecox Winter Sweet but unfortunately the blossom was definitely nothing like that, in fact I thought it was a fruit tree but to no avail. The fruit is very strange I thought maybe a pistachio nut tree. Thanks anyway

Which part of the world is it growing in?
If in the UK, the leaves actually look like plum or cherry and maybe the weird shaped fruit is the result of 'Pocket plum' disease?

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

I was thinking exactly the same as @BobTheGardener
