A lot of geraniums aren't invasive, unless you've got Wargrave Pink or Rosenlicht, both of which go everywhere. I think Borderline is right on the ID and it should be shallow rooted so you could transplant if you take a good rootball and water copiously after planting and then throughout the summer.
Not in my experience. But I used to garden on heavy soil so most plants did not get far. Geranium Sanguineums tend to like sunny positions, and could spread if grown in very free draining soil. The most invasive ones tended to be Geranium Oxonianum.
