I have found several of these - they are about 25cm high. I am not sure I want them but would like to know what they are . Thanks

    Hardy geranium?

It could be Geranium Sanguineum 'Album'.

It may be - I generally don't buy geraniums (previous invasive experience) but that name sounds very familiar. Do geraniums have a deep root? I tried to move one plant and realised it wouldn't be easy to dig up
  • A lot of geraniums aren't invasive, unless you've got Wargrave Pink or Rosenlicht, both of which go everywhere. I think Borderline is right on the ID and it should be shallow rooted so you could transplant if you take a good rootball and water copiously after planting and then throughout the summer.

Not in my experience. But I used to garden on heavy soil so most plants did not get far. Geranium Sanguineums tend to like sunny positions, and could spread if grown in very free draining soil. The most invasive ones tended to be Geranium Oxonianum.

Thanks to both of you for the information. The plants are now designated for transplanting - thanks for your help.
