Clematis Wilt? Powdery Mildew?

I have 3 Clematis on my Pergola. Recently theyve all been getting dark spots on leaves and odd pale powdery looking stems. The one had beautiful white billowy flowers one day and then they were brown and withered the next - is this normal?

Hello Louise,  sorry your question slipped through the net
Have things improved at all ? I know others (including me) have had similar problems,  possibly due to the weather we've had since the Spring. 
If you are still having problems, a photo or two may help

Thanks I had to ask elsewhere in the end and it was powdery mildew so I bought some spray for that.
