Which type of hedge

I am wanting to make a hedge along this cornish wall instead of the lavender.
It is windy and near the coast and would like it to make our garden more private.
I would like to support my local small garden centre who has a smallish choice.
I actually purchased 12 Euonymus Japonicus (Robusta) which looked lush and full but now wondering if I would have been better with Griselinia.
The Euonymus looked robust and less flimsy than the Griselinia but I am now worried the wall may not cope with the root system and that it may be slow growing.
Does anyone have advice, thanks.
