Can I plant fruit bushes in May?

    As long as they are supplied as potted plants then yes, as these can be planted at any time of the year (except into frozen or waterlogged ground.)  There shouldn't even be bare-root bushes being offered at this time of year (assuming you're in the UK) so avoid any of those you see.
    A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
