Hi All, hope you are all safe and sound during the Coronovirus restrictions. I have this plant growing in my garden and wondering what it is could any of you knowledgable people help on identifying it please.

Geum urbanum (Wood avens), a common weed which is a real pest.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

Thanks BobTheGardener for your very prompt reply. I thought it might be a weed but nice to have confirmation. Will now get my fork out and get rid of it, thanks.
  • It is a weed yes, but I have noticed some bees and other pollinators going to the flowers, so am a bit reluctant to remove mine ATM as other flowers have not come through yet.

I remove any as soon as I see them. An asparagus knife to sever through below the ground level works well. Just pulling the stalks tends to leave the growing point.  I prefer forget me nots seeding around for bees ealy on. They seemed to have moved on to the alliums now.
