More Plant ID

Sorry if all I do is ask questions for my children....however my daughter wonders if anyone can identify these 'perennials'.....thank you in advance!

    The 2nd one looks like a dahlia seedling to me.
    Mine are about the same size too.
    If so it's likely to be one of the smaller bushy ones that get to about 18"-2ft. If you keep removing the flowers as they die off it'll flower throughout the summer until the frosts arrive. They often survive in the ground here overwinter.
    Slugs love them though..

    Agree about the second one being a dahlia seedling.
    The first one has leaves similar to a young Bergenia but they aren't as smooth. So not sure

    OK, that's a great help! thank you both....I'll pass this on and hopefully we can get to the bottom of the 1st one eventually!:)
