The 2nd one looks like a dahlia seedling to me. Mine are about the same size too. If so it's likely to be one of the smaller bushy ones that get to about 18"-2ft. If you keep removing the flowers as they die off it'll flower throughout the summer until the frosts arrive. They often survive in the ground here overwinter. Slugs love them though..
