Plant Identification

Does anyone recognise this plant? It was in the border when I moved into my house.  I’d be ever so grateful as I’d like to know how to care for it.

  • Spot on Treeface! Google imaged what you said and I recognise my plant there! Thank you for the speedy post!!
  • I’ll reserve judgement for if/when it flowers! :-)

They have bracts rather than flowers  - the flowers are tiny, and inside the bracts.  :)
They need virtually no care whatsoever. You can cut the bracts back when they start to look tatty, but be very careful as the stems contain a milky latex sap, which can cause a reaction if it gets on your skin, so wear good gloves for protection, and start with the top stems, working downwards  :)

Many types and varieties, and some can be a nuisance, but extremely useful plants for all sorts of sites and situations.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
