Dying Buxus

Hi - looking for some advice - bought 20 Buxus plants last year, they are still in their pots as waiting for garden redesign, but it appears that I'm losing approx half of the plants. They have been watered, fed and had leaf fertiliser applied but nothing helps. They don't have caterpillars - any advice would be very welcome! Thanks in advance

I'm afraid they are struggling in those small pots. No matter how much you water, the roots are restricted and never getting the best from watering, and with almost no soil left to support the shrub, they really urgently needing re-potting or planting into the ground.

I hope you're not in SE England...or those caterpillars will come. I've only have one plant left and I killed three of the little buggers on it yesterday.

  • Hi thanks for your advice, will re-pot, also, we are in SE England - I have seen the caterpillars in the Buxus that I have in the front garden, but they're a lot healthier, so it appears even the caterpillars are fussy! They have been sprayed and will keep checking.
