Just wondering of its name - blooms lovely!

LTobyLToby Posts: 224
I found this little plant last year underneath another plant. I decided of growing it and wait if it will ever flower ...

Today, I found that it finally bloomed with this beautiful colour that contrasts on its foliage. These clustered purple with creamy and gold center flower is above one stem (like those of polyanthus). The foliage feels like a succulent ... there are now other 4 baby plants underneath it...

I am posting it just in case, some of you may have this type of plant. Thanks for any insights as always.

It's an auricula, related to primroses.

Those little offsets at the base are great to split in early autumn and pot them on to get more plants. Such a beautiful colour too! There was a small feature on them in last week's Gardeners' World if you want to catch-up with it on iPlayer...19mins in http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m000j4f5

That’s beautiful 😍.  I grow them, but am not able to tell one from the other 🤪.  Maybe have a look at the Peninsula Primula website and see if yours looks like one of theirs 😀

Then you'll need to build an auricula theatre for them @LToby :D

I've often fancied doing one. Nice project.

I think someone else has one - is it @Palustris
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

Yes. I doth hath a theatre for mine. Cannot put a name to that one though. There are rather a large number of them, many very similar. Oh and there was one small error on the GW program. I would say that almost ALL Auriculas are scented, except perhaps the doubles.

I agree @Palustris all of mine are scented. I'm working my way to a theatre 😉
