Potato water (unsalted) to feed plants?

linzijayne74linzijayne74 Posts: 198
Hi.  Is water left over from boiling potatoes of any benefit if I fed it to my plants, please?  (Unsalted and cooled-down water, of course).  It seems a shame to just throw it away if the plants will like it.  Many thanks in advance.  :)

It certainly won't do any harm and may well contain a few nutrients leached out of the potatoes during cooking, so why not. :)
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

Hi again @BobTheGardener; thanks for your reply.  I was thinking the same as you but I just wanted to check in case someone gave a good reason why I shouldn't!  Thanks ever so much.  :)

Try not to get it on the leaves in case the starch leaves white marks when it dries (probably harmless but not pretty).
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

Thanks @JennyJ; that's a very good point.  I shall try and be precise with my potato water!  :)
