Need to prune this clematis Ruben. Not sure if I can cut it right back. To create new growth, as not many flowers this year. Seeing as this Clematis is 40 years old now, wondered if anyone could give me some advice Thanks
I'd cut it back. Back to the green growth that's there. Nothing to lose if it's old anyway. I'd remove all the stuff round the bottom of it though, and give it a decent watering and slow release food. The conditions there can't be helping it
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
Looks dead, it should be in flower now. They do cut down well, I cut one to the ground and it came up really nice, you need to remove the rubbish in it, it can’t get much water under a pile of wood.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
