Hi there,

I have just received these plugs today and I need advice please. Do I need to pinch out the flowers and if so how much do I pinch out? Is it each little flower or the stem with flowers? I know the rule of thumb normally is to next healthy set of bids but should these be treated with more delicacy because they are plugs? I’m nervous about pinching too much - that’s if I need to?? I don’t know!! please can somebody help me out?

many thanks

I think you can probably pot those on - they look very healthy, and then take a view on it, depending on what you want to do with them too.
What are they though? I don't recognise them.

    The photo's there now @philippa smith2  ;)

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Those are classified as jumbo plug plants.

They can go straight into the ground if there is no risk of frost.  Otherwise just pot them on and plant out in a few weeks time - no need to pinch them out.  Just keep them dead headed and they'll do their thing.

  • Hi FG, they are calibrachoa (million bells). So your saying pot them up then decide?

I think the cold nights are over, you can put them in their forever homes if you want too, baskets, tubs?  Just try carefully to unwrap the roots so they can spread out in the new compost.
