Problem with blotches on the fruits of my Apricot tree

I planted an Apricot Compacta in a large terracotta container last summer and whilst the tree appears to be in good health, some of the fruits have unsightly blotches on the skin. Is this deleterious to the fruit and what remedial measures should I take. Any advice you can give would be most appreciated.

  • Sorry you haven’t got a reply from an expert. I’m no expert but I do have two apricot trees. Firstly it could be mineral deficiency or the other cause could be insect attack. I don’t know which, but if it was my tree I would remove those fruits effected before the June drop. Your other fruit will benefit from the thinning. Just think, would you eat fruit with such markings on as They will probably get worse. Do not put the fruit in the compost bin.  Valerie
  • Thank you so much for your assistance. I have picked the offending fruits and will keep a close eye on the remainder.

Good.  It looks like fruit-fly or brown rot so you did the right thing, as @valerieroberts said.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
