oxglove ‘Digitalis purpurea f. albiflora

Hi orderd this few weeks ago for back my border 
but just realised I not get flowers every year 🙈wasnt aware when I placed order 
does the foliage still come up yearly thou
will I get much from 9 Cm pot in first couple of years or do I need buy few pots together

    If you plant it out now you will get flowers next year then if you leave some seeds they will germinate the following year. If it should throw up a flower spike this year, cut it off so the plant can build up for next year. Once you’ve got them they’ll self seed everywhere and you’ll have them forever.

    being a newbie does that mean cut stem open to let it self seed🤔

    There's no need to cut the stem open, just leave the plant alone, it will drop it's own seeds, new plants will grow, mother nature giving free plants........

    Has anyone tried these in clay? I've planted 20 or so but it's the first time I've put them in clay soil and I'm wondering if they'll self seed as easily. 

    I'll collect some seed regardless to sow in the greenhouse, but it would help me out a lot if they would do some of the work also  :D
