Liatris spicata spacing

Some guidance please.. I planted 3 liatris corms in 9 inch pots. Now they are rapidly growing (6" tall), should I pot them on into separate pots? I am not intending to plant them in the garden. P. S. Currently hiding them under cardboard boxes at night as something seems too like eating them 😕
